star rating  I visited Jaipur with my family and booked Arya Niwas accidentally. I consider myself lucky that I found this place as it was neat and clean. Perfectly managed and gives soothing experience even though it is in the center of the city. Rooms were not too spacious but had almost all amenities. Breakfast was great too with soothing folk music.

star rating  Great stay as usual - Top class service from a well oiled system. I have been staying at Arya Niwas for more than 10 years now. The service and food standards have been immaculately maintained. The food at Chitra Cafeteria is very home like and therefore healthy. That's one of my main reasons to stay at Arya Niwas.

star rating  Well located, great place to stay. - I loved this hotel. My room was incredibly spacious with a large bathroom and overlooked the gardens where a musician played ragas on a sitar each morning. Jaipur can be noisy, like all Indian cities, but Arya Niwas is tucked away on a side street and so is pleasantly quiet. The staff are friendly and very helpful. It's not the swankiest hotel in town, but all the more charming because of it. Guests are varied and interesting. Well worth a visit.

  • star rating  Definitely worth staying - I and my mother were travelling to Jaipur for the first time. At the first sight, you will notice it is quite popular with foreigners. The staff here is very helpful and friendly. It's quiet safe for female travellers. It has retained the old charm of a rajasthani haveli. There are several corridors, plants, a front lawn. There are activities conducted everyday for the guests. They have a travel desk which organizes tours as well. It has a very homely vibe to it. They are also quite travel sustainable. They try to minimize use of plastic or any single use items. The food options could have better.

star rating  Centrally Located, Comfortable Hotel in Jaipur  - I booked Hotel Arya Niwas based on the excellent TripAdvisor reviews. Here are my thoughts on the property.

LOCATION - Central, but located in a side lane behind a commercial complex. Not easily visible from the road and their signage, though lit, can be missed. The main road is a commercial area but the lane in which this property is located is relatively quieter. Limited parking is available in the courtyard.

CHECK IN - Reasonably quick, though they follow a manual registration system. The staff on duty were pleasant and after completing the paperwork we were escorted to our rooms.

PROPERTY - Has an old-world charm about it and apparently very popular with foreigners, as we spotted a lot of them in the café as well as the lawn outside. The hotel appeared to be quite full. The outer building has the reception, a travel agency, a lounge with a limited collection of books, an attached carrom room, a gift shop, and their café called Chitra. They have a spacious lawn, part of which is being used for tented seating for dining and there are other tables laid out in the open lawn as well.

ROOMS - Our rooms were on the first floor at the rear of the building. The interior was pleasant, and the corridor walls were lined with beautiful, framed pictures. There’s also a water dispenser with RO-filtered water which the guests can use to fill up their water bottles.

The rooms were cozy, compact, with a queen-sized double bed and a comfortable spring mattress, and the sheets were clean. The aircon was cooling well and the lighting was adequate. Entrance to the bathroom was through a recessed dressing room with a tall mirror, a wardrobe on one side, and below it, a mini refrigerator. The bathroom was clean, as were the towels.

Tea-coffee making amenities were available, but no complimentary bottled water was provided. Instead, they had provided a water jug with RO-filtered drinking water. Bottled water is provided on payment.

Window overlooks a vacant plot behind which is quite littered.

BREAKFAST - Buffet spread, served between 0700 to 1030 in Chitra Café. It was elaborate with several options, including cereals, hot & cold milk, fruit juices, cut fruits, toasted bread, South Indian option of Idli & Sambhar, North Indian option of Chhola Kulcha, Grilled Sandwiches etc, among other things. There was no live egg counter, but readymade omelets were provided. Nevertheless, everything was hot, fresh, and tasty. There was cappuccino as well, dispensed by a self-service machine. Their service was quite efficient - I have seen much bigger hotels falter when it comes to feeding breakfast to a full house of guests.

MINOR ISSUES - I would have given a 5-star rating, had it not been for some minor issues. Firstly, the hand-shower by the toilet seat did not have adequate water pressure – it was little more than a trickle. This can make things rather awkward, especially when discovered at the last minute. The second issue was while taking a shower - the shower gel dispenser did not have even a drop of gel inside. Again, another awkward moment as I stepped out dripping water all over the floor to pick up the hand-wash gel from the wash basin and eventually used that for my shower in place of the shower gel.

CHECK OUT - At the time of check out, I shared feedback with Saddam and Shyam at the reception. They introduced me to Mr Tarun Bansal, who is the co-owner of the hotel, and I shared the feedback with him as well. I found him to be a through gentleman, and very receptive to the feedback provided. He promised to take remedial measures immediately.

Before I close, it would be pertinent to mention here that all their personnel that we interacted with were extremely polite and accommodating. In fact, I had requested for a one-hour extension on the check-out time, which they were happy to provide.

Overall, we had a comfortable stay, if one was to overlook the minor issues encountered in the bathroom, and I would not mind staying here again on my next visit.
